Elzaphan R. King was born December 16, 1846, and died August 14, 1910. He was buried in Montgomery, Alabama.

He enlisted in Company K of the 8th Georgia Infantry on December 20, 1862 in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He was hospitalized in Richmond, for wounds and illness during the War.

Elzaphan had 3 brothers in the 8th Georgia Infantry: Felix H. King, the color sergeant, Company K; Palemon J. King, sergeant, Company K; and William A. King, Company E.
