Letter to Guilford Dobbs, Co I;[Information contributed by
John A. Roberts, descendant of Guilford L. Dobbs]![]()
|
Dear Sir [Guilford L. Dobbs of Co I], Your letter of 21st Oct last came promptly to hand, but it is difficult to get information like that you request. I send here with a history of Co I the best we that are here could make. There are inaccuracies in the list, but they were mainly made in the printing office. For instance W. J. Orear is made a Lieut, he was a Sergeant and the name of W. G. Davis is omitted altogether. If you should discover others, write me. I wish to finally have the list recorded in the office of our Ordinary here. Further I send you a list of all our Co that are now alive, so far as I know, and their post office address. I should think your parole would entitle you to a cross, but I will sign any thing you send. Truly al Columbus Heard P.S. There were 3 Dobbs in our Co. D. M. Dobbs was from Cobb County. Was the other Dobbs your brother and if so is he alive now. C.H.
