From the Elbert Co., GA. paper:
"Death of Former Elbert County Man:"

"Mr. D. M. Dobbs died in Atlanta thursday May 2, at the home of his son, Mr. C. G. Dobbs.  He was 75 years old, a Confederate veteran, and was with Lee at Appomattox .  He removed from Elberton fourteen years ago to Atlanta to accept a position with the Marietta Fertilizer Company, where he remained until his health failed.  He was stricken with paralysis Tuesday and never rallied.  Besides his wife, he is survived by four children-P. A. Dobbs of Anderson, SC., J. W. Dobbs, of Ensley, AL.., C. G. Dobbs and Mrs. G. G. Pace, of Atlanta.  He has friends and relatives in Elbert county who will be pained to learn of his death.  His great desire was to see America win the great struggle through which it is passing."
