Comments: Dave, I just found your websight re:8th infantry. My father's name
was Melmond M. Wright and was born in Rome Ga. He was Melmond M. Wright lll.
His grandfather was Melmond Mantleburt Wright and his father was Melmond
Mannington Wright. So even though the middle name was different , the
initials are the same, so he really was the lll.( His brother and sister are
still alive. Whats really cool is: my father named his son after himself
(deceased), He named his son the same (living) and his son as well (also
living). He goes by the name Quint . "Quint " represents 5; the fifth
Melmond Mannington Wright. Isnt that cool ?! What's wierd is : he is Melmond
M. Wright the Sixth ! See? I see that you list some relatives on the
websight I don't know who they are but I'm interested in finding out. All of
the individuals I've listed live/ lived in Florida.
Daddy's father married Era Victoria Echols and moved to Florida. "The Old
Homeplace", the old Wright family home is in Rome not far from Berry
College. Please contact me . Thanks!!!! Ginger Wright Haller, Jacksonville

Comments: Dave,
It was my mistake,at the beginning of the diary of your website, it was
Fuqua Beasley, the father of John Fletcher Beasley, who says he was born in
North Carolina.
You have a great website. I wish I had the experience with a computer that
you have. I am enjoying your music. It is a great and wide selection, songs
that I haven't heard in years. You could add a few more Confederate
songs!!!I am a member of William F. Martin Camp Sons of Confederate
Veterans. My great grandfather was in the 68th North Carolina Regiment
Volunteers. It was a Guerrilla Company that operated locally with camps in
the local swamps, but later went to Western North Carolina and Eastern
Tennessee, after GeneralEdward Wild and his colored troops started burning
their homes, taking their wives as hostages and hanging some of the soldiers.
Thanks again again for letting me visit your website.

Comments: Dave,
Just visiting your website after finding a link on Google to your page (http://home.earthlink.net/~larsrbl/CoA8thGARoster.htm) on the 8th Regiment. I know that I have ancestors that served in the Confederate army out of Rome that had the last name Bearden. You'll notice my first name which I inherited from my grandfather Bearden Allen Dodd, also of Rome and now buried on Myrtle Hill.
My Confederate ancestors were 2 brothers and legend has it that one of them was shot in the head and presumed dead but turned up back in Rome . I grew up looking at a Daguerrotype photo of the brothers which my mom still has hanging in her house. We have other artifacts like a Confederate sword and a bombshell just sitting around collecting dust. The photo needs to be cleaned up and digitized. If you're interested, when I get that done I can send you an email with attachment. I'll get more info on the names of these 2 Beardens and visit your website again to see if there's any record of them.
Thanks for the great website.

to Harper's Ferry? Did they march? Was it a rail journey? Where did they
stop along the way before joining the brigade? Any info would be most
welcome. Nice site and best of luck to all...
