Army, Corps, Division and Brigade Command Organization and Orders of Battle:

In June 1861, the 8th Georgia Volunteer Infantry was ordered to Harper's Ferry, Virginia, to join the forces commanded by Gen. Joseph E. Johnston.

"Colonel F. S. Bartow will proceed to Harper's Ferry, Virginia with regiment of Georgia Volunteers, and report for duty to Brigadier General J. E. Johnston, commanding."
