About the Chapter	The Minneapolis - St.Paul Chapter was chartered in August 1976. The organizational meeting was held September 7, 1976, in St. Paul. The initial members came from local firms such as Univac, Honeywell, Control Data, FMC Corporation, and Minnesota Mining. The Chapter sponsored the 19th Annual International Logistics Symposium in Minneapolis August 21-23, 1984, under the able leadership of General Chairman Jim Sindt and Assistant Chairman Cal Gehan, both of Honeywell, Inc. The membership grew to over 130 in the mid-1980s. The Chapter won the Annual Chapter Award, 1981; the Bronze Medium Chapter Award, 1991; and the Silver Small Chapter Award, 1996. The Chapter has won the Newsletter Award a number of times including the 2003 Small Chapter Silver Newsletter Award. In 2004 the Chapter was awarded the SOLE Chapter Award, Silver, Small Chapters, and the Chapter Newsletter Award, Bronze, for operations during the 2003-2004 year. The Chapter is also proud of the contributions of its Fellow and CPL members for their service locally and at the National level. The Chapter meetings were held monthly (except for July and August). There was a mix of joint meetings with other professional societies (such as the American Society for Quality, INternational Council on Systems Engineering, Association For Service Management International, the Council of Logistics Management, and other professional groups with local chapters), tours, and evening dinner meetings In September 2004 the Chapter discontinued chapter operations.
