Young Quaker is typical of Salt Lick Kennel puppies. He is eager to please, sensitive to correction (voice)
and doesn't lose his sense of humor. At 9 months of age he was very much a LARGE puppy always wanting to play and romp
with his parents. Right now at one year old Quaker is about 2" taller than his father (he has already far surpassed his mother
in size) and we expect him to grow for at least another year. At just a couple months of age we were easily
able to teach him to sit, lie down and "speak" in the kitchen using table scraps as rewards.
As far as Quaker's hunting abilities - so far we are impressed. Quaker is NOT a "me too" hound. We have
taken him coon hunting with his parents a number of times and Quaker doesn't follow them. He goes out on his own, finds his
own trail and follows it to the same tree his parents are baying on! We were out one night coon hunting and Chopper and Penny
were treeing hard on one tree about 20 feet from the tree Quaker treed on. In the parent's tree we shined the light up, sure
enough, a coon was there - possibly more than one set of eyes gleamed back at us. To humor Quaker we shined the lights up
his tree also and, to our surprise, found Quaker had his own coons treed. We must have treed a whole family group that night!

We are excited about our fine young hound to say the least. Quaker turned a year old on May 3rd.
