All my life, I've been something of a music addict. I can't remember when music wasn't a major part of my life. I seem to listen to all genres, and a few that defy the concept of genre altogether. I did want to put together a couple of things that are music-related. Few people might care about this, but for those who do, I want it to be out there.
Right now, there's not much here, besides a few playlists and an artist of the moment kind of section, but as I come up with new ideas, then I'll add more things to this page.
Music Playlists
Wolfstar Mix Playlists
The bitch mixes are my personal Mix CDs that I listen to in the car, or just anywhere. There's no particular theme about them. I just sort of throw them together and listen while writing or driving or doing anything else. The Wolfstar Mixers, however, are one of the very few fandom-esque things that I put on here.
The fandom-esque part of the Wolfstar Mixers is that shortly after Order of the Phoenix, I found myself thinking about songs that had to do with my favourite (non-canon) pairing in the books. I'm a major Lupin/Black fan, as any look at part of the fiction site will show, and I finally threw the songs on a series of CDs. There's four of them so far, and they're marked as being Post-OotP. I listen to them for any reason, but mostly when I write fanfiction for that particular pairing, I pop one of the CDs in and just sort of go with it.
There will probably be more mixers as time goes on, but that's all for the moment.
Artist of the Moment (this will change every so often)
Carbon Leaf
Carbon Leaf has a Celtic pop/soft rock feel to it. Comparing them to Great Big Sea doesn't really do either band justice, but the sound is somewhat similar. When browsing through Amazon, I stumbled upon this band almost on accident, and they had enough of the downloads for the band that I was able to get a feel for what their sound is. And I like it. Their stuff is currently on practically non-stop repeat on my MP3 players.
Past Artists of the Moment
Vienna Teng
I am having a fangirl period with Vienna Teng. She's a fairly new artist, and her music was recommended to me by a couple of friends who enjoy Tori Amos' music, so she might appeal to those who like to listen to Tori. For me, though, it's sort of like Tori Amos meets Norah Jones meets Alison Krauss, and then there's that extra element that I can't quite describe. Much of her music is mellow, but there are high-spirited songs as well. It's a good mix, I think, but I'm biased in her favour. The best part is that her website includes clips from some songs and the full songs on others, as well as lyrics. So check her out, and enjoy.
