This absolutely the only thing I've ever written and half of it is butchered from TSbyBS. Be gentle, folks.

Why couldn't it have happened this way?

"There has to be a way to stop this media blitz and cool the speculation that you are some sort of superhero. It's too bad we don't have Bartley's lawyers to sic on Sid and Edwards." Blair sighed remembering the union boss as he commandeered Simon's office. Jim got an evil look on his face. The Sentinel grabbed a phone and dialed a little used number.

"Dad, I've got a favor to ask."

"Guys! Hairboy and Jim are on TV!" The detectives gathered round the break room set. Blair, Jim, William Ellison, and Joshua Katzman, Cascade's most prominent intellectual property lawyer (and a personal friend of Bill's) stood behind a podium somewhere at Rainier University. Blair released Jim's hand and took his place at the podium and addressed the reporters.

"Hi, uh, thank you all for coming, I just have a short speech prepared here."

"Um, in our media informed culture, a scientist receives validation by having his or her work published. And after years of research, there is, ah, great personal satisfaction when that goal is reached. However, the work that is being touted by Sid Graham, Berkshire Publishing and Rainier University is not my dissertation. The material they have is a fantasy dissertation written because I couldn't give up the idea of Sentinels even though I've been working on a thesis on the police as a closed society while riding with Detective Ellison. That thesis is even now in the hands of my dissertation committee. Detective Ellison, while a highly skilled policeman, is not a Sentinel."

"I have repeatedly turned down Mr. Graham's offers and requested the return of the work he received from an unauthorized source. While my fantasy paper does quote ancient source materials, the documentation proving James Ellison," Blair had to swallow before going on. "...actually --- possesses hyper senses is fraudulent. He may be a Watchman for Justice in our City, but Jim Ellison isn't Superman."

"I apologize for this misunderstanding and I hope that in light of this information, the media will allow Detective Ellison to get on with his work. I, meanwhile, will be pursuing litigation for intellectual property theft. Thank you."

Blair faced Chancellor Edwards as he left the podium ignoring the questions thrown at him from reporters. The chancellor nervously eyed the high-priced lawyer that stood beside the Ellisons waiting for Blair.

"Will the University be named in your suit?"

"Rainier University itself is not at fault. If you had met with my dissertation committee you would not have embarrassed the University yet again. Your involvement with Mr. Graham and the release of my work cannot be ignored. Good day, Ms. Edwards."
