These are a few ideas for those elusive real stories that I want to write

AUs

The Familiar
    When Queen Naomi gives birth to a full empath mage child, a sentinel cub is found as the boy's familiar.  Bonded as children, separated by political intrigue, Prince Blair and the shapeshifter, James find love when reunited years later.

This Masquerade
    Same sex relationships are as normal as night and day.  Sentinel and Guide bonding is considered perverse and unnatural, no matter what gender the pairs.  Those with any extraordinary gifts have learned to hide them.   When  Detective Jim Ellison's Sentinel senses come on line he finds a Guide in the unlikely form of a neo-hippy grad student in anthropology, Blair Sandburg.

    To hide their secrets they pretend to be lovers.  Blair moves into Jim's loft.  They start spending as much time as possible together for Blair to help Jim work on his senses.  Each exercise is disguised in lingering touches and gentle whispers.  Jim is very careful not to use his senses in front of anyone.  His case solve rate improves.

    Unfortunately, the pretense gets to be too much for them.  They find themselves pretending less and making love for real.  And someone is getting suspicious about Jim.
