DAYWALKER

James Rellan gave Senad permission to continue Night. This is my attempt. This version is slightly different from that posted to the Senad mailing since I cleaned it up a bit.

This isn't exactly a crossover, but I got the idea of a Daywalker from the movie Blade. But the concept I used is my own, not that used in the movie. Non-con sex and vampirism remembered but not depicted.

How was his Sire to have known that to turn a Sentinel would form such a creature? When Jim had woken from the death of his Sire's bite and fed, the change had terrified the old vampire. No Daywalker had been seen in hundreds of years. Jim had wasted no time in destroying his Sire as he would any vampire that crossed his path.

Jim Ellison was immune to the sun. He had no fear of wooden stakes or garlic. Oh, he could be killed by fire or beheading. Any man could be. He still needed to drink the blood of a human to survive. One human. His beloved Guide. There was no substitute. That was the price of a Daywalker's calling. To survive to rid the world of vampires, he had to feed on the one person he loved the most.

Jim screamed his frustration. Now he would never know his Guide as a willing lover. If he told Blair what had happened, Blair would sacrifice himself to help Jim. There was only one solution. He would have to feed from Blair secretly, using his new powers of mesmerism to block the event from his Guide's mind. The thought of betraying Blair's trust tore at his heart.

To the world at large there was no change in Jim Ellison. He continued his superb career with Blair Sandburg at his side. The Sentinel continued to guard his tribe against the usual suspects. In the darkness of night, the Daywalker stalked different prey. Each vampire death forced Jim to seek sustenance.

It started accidentally. Jim had caught a vampire on Rainier campus on a night when Blair was working late. Blair had left his office and walked across the lot to his car while Jim was still in high blood lust. Unable to control his need for his guide's body and blood, Jim had taken Blair. He had tried to be as gentle as possible and to make sure that Blair was not traumatized. Indeed Blair had experience great sexual pleasure. Jim had hypnotized Blair into forgetting the incident and had sent him home. Blair had slept peacefully that night.

Once wasn't enough. Jim began to stalk Blair even as he stalked the denizens of the night. Each encounter gave him the sustenance to continue his hunt, but lacked the one thing he truly craved - - Blair's love.

It wasn't long before the nightmares began. It broke Jim's heart to have to comfort Blair night after night and to watch Blair's sudden withdrawal into his studies. He pressed a kiss upon Blair's brow and started to leave the room. He needed to get away.

"Jim? Isn't is time to tell me what's happening?"

The Daywalker turned back to his Guide.

"What are you talking about?"

"I'd know your touch anywhere. I love you, Jim."

Hope dared to flare briefly in Jim's eyes.

"How can you love someone who hunts you down to use you and feed from you?"

Blair rose to his knees and held out his arms. The Daywalker hesitated only a moment before allowing himself to be enfolded in those arms.

"Jim, you may have been detective of the year, but I am a researcher. I was being stalked and bitten by a vampire. I wasn't killed. I had the best sex I've ever experienced and the vampire only took a small amount of blood. The vampire tried to hypnotize me into forgetting the encounters while begging forgiveness. Since I knew the vampire was you, I had to resolve how you were able to resist sunlight and Luigi's garlic bread."

"Oh, Luigi's. Mmmmm," Jim laughed shakily into Blair's shoulder. "I assume you found the legend of the Daywalker."

"Why didn't you just tell me? I would have come to you freely."

"How could I ask that of you? I never meant to even touch you. The first time happened by accident and I was lost to my need."

"No more stalking," Blair ordered.

"You'll stay?" It was both question and realization of his heart's desire.

"For as long as I live."

"About that..."

"You can't turn your Guide."

"Don't have to. Once bonded, a Daywalker's Guide is immortal."

"Bonded. That mean we're married, Jim?" Blair was tired of talking. He wanted to take advantage of his newly acknowledged status. He drew Jim down onto the bed.

"Oh, we are more than married. And Daywalkers don't believe in divorce." Jim growled as he kissed his Guide.
