Welcome to Ky-Ann Cockers!........
Cockers with PAW-sonality!
A well-bred Cocker is a sight to behold!  A balance of loving temperament, correct conformation, and overall good health is important to the breed's success in the conformation ring, obedience ring, in the field, or as a family pet.   When planning a breeding, mates are carefully selected  by evaluating their conformational strengths/weaknesses, temperament, health, and pedigree to ensure the offspring are as good or better than their parents.   Our goal is to produce puppies with the qualities to win in the ring, but not every puppy qualifies as a show dog.  Typically, we have one litter a year, but in every litter there will be puppies available to pet/family homes on a spay/neuter contract with limited AKC registration.   Puppies are extensively socialized from birth and  prepared for a lifetime of grooming with nail trims starting at 1 - 2 wks., baths/haircuts/grooming table experience starting at 4 - 5 wks., and they are given opportunities to meet our big dogs and our cat.  They are exposed to typical household sounds starting at 3 wks. when their ears open and they are provided opportunities to walk on different surfaces/textures.  Leash training begins at 8 weeks.  Early socialization with positive experiences is critical to a puppy's emotional development and should continue even after the puppy enters it's new home, whether it be a show or pet home.   For more info on socializing a puppy and deciding if this is the right breed for your family, go to the BREED INFO page.   To better understand the extensive grooming necessary for this breed, visit the GROOMING page.  At times we may have a retired, adult, champion show dog (male/female) for sale to a pet/family home.  Champion stud service is also available - see CONNER's page  (Conner is FOR SALE).  Below are examples of the colors we breed (we do not have parti-colors):
               Solid Black                                      Black/tan                                       Solid Brown

            Brown/tan

              Light Buff                                              Buff                                                    Red

Annual CERF eye exams and OFA hip certifications are done on all breeding stock.  New owners receive a sales contract/health guarantee, vaccine/deworming record, breeder-certified pedigree, copies of current eye/hip testing on parents, spay/neuter agreement (when applicable), and AKC registration (registration will be marked 'limited' for puppies/adults sold on a spay/neuter agreement).

I'm happy to answer questions for newcomers to the breed as well as provide support to new owners long after they've acquired their Cocker puppy/adult.   With my past experience as a Dog Training Instructor and currently as a Certified Dog Groomer, I will do my best to provide assistance with issues of basic training, potty training, socializing, grooming, etc.  Please address all inquiries to the e-mail or phone numbers below.
