SHAHMINAS:
Rasa Devi is proud to introduce the SHAHMINA, "Emperor of Shawls", (also know as Pastoosh). Making a soft-spoken
statement of sophistication, it is the world’s softest & finest quality shawl known to man. The virgin wool comes
from the first sheering of the Capra Hircus (Cashmere) goat that lives at 14,000 feet in the Himalayas. Only the delicate,
short, downy underbelly fibers are taken from the sheering by separating them from the coarser, longer hair of the outer coat, known as Cashmere. Taking 200 hours and 4 goats to separate enough wool for your shawl,
the delicate fibers are sent to Italy for this important process in order to insure that your shawl contains only the finest
fibers before being spun and woven by hand by special craftsmen. Shahmina shawls are also available with
silk blends.
Shahmina: 100% Shahmina (8-12 microns vs. cashmere 18-25
microns)
Also referred to as Pashmina or Pastoosh.
