This crazy dove is apparently affectionate enough to brave the shower as it rains down on my head.
Every week, there is something new. Over the past few days, this dove has taken to sitting atop the shower
curtain rod, observing me throughout my shower. Tonight, she went a step further...
I can tell when, and generally to where, she is planning to fly. She leans forward, pointedly, like a vulture (especially as
viewed from below!).
I didn't think she would do it, but sure enough, she came right down on my head as I faced the shower water. Repeatedly,
I had to lift her back up onto the rod.
But then, she opted to land onto my head even as I stood directly under the water! I am surpised by this behaviour.
The bird is almost entirely fearless, which means that I have to compensate, taking extra care when doing normal things like
walking down the hall (Panchi will walk along on the floor, with dogs and all), or while doing dishes (she will try to drink
the suds), or while vacuuming (she approaches the business end of the vacuum hose as though it's picking up some great seeds).
After my showers, I have begun to offer some warmish water in the sink for her bathing pleasure, imagining she wants
a bath. She does not always bathe at these times, though sometimes she does with great enthusiasm, splashing and diving into
the shallow water.
Funny bird!
