I have indicated in the past that there seem to be few things in common among the 33ers who have
signed in at this site. Well, I want to amend that in light of recent discoveries.
But first, I want to point out the most important commonality, and that is courtesy. Amazingly
- and perhaps quite atypical of most web sites these days - no one has done anything disrespectful on this
web site. I extend my sincere appreciation for all of you, especially for that.
The other thing is this: My Links page will reveal to the eager seeker numerous 33 links that lead
to bands or music-industry related sites.
Part of the reason for the large number of such groups may be the Psalms verse 3:33: "Sung unto Him
a new song; play skillfully and with a loud noise."
I am a musician, as well, and I used to want to name a band "33 something" or "Such-and-such 33",
but not for that reason. I discovered that Psalms verse well after I had wanted to use 33 in a band name. Mostly, for me,
it was because I saw 33s everywhere.
Some of the band members who have written in have cited similar reasons for choosing their monikers.
Could it be that musicians are disposed to seeing 33s?
This makes me wonder how many of you might be musicians, even just for fun, even if you only took
some lessons as a kid.... Who knows?
If there is any reason we all share this phenomena, it could be something simple. Well, probably
not...nothing is ever simple, least of all mysteries!
I have not ever really posted many facts from my own "33" experiences. In order to add to what all
you 33ers have said about yourselves, I offer the following about me:
I was born and continue to reside at the global latitude 33°30' North, having spent virtually my
entire life here. In a state with a geographical area of 294,333 square kilometers, and in a city at an altitude of 332 meters
above sea level, I was born in a hospital on the 330 East block of a road at about 33°00' N. The house in which I was raised
from birth lies directly upon the global latitude line of 33°30' N in this city, and the house in which I have lived for the
following half of my adult life sits only a few yards away from that same latitude.
Owing to an atypical curve in the road in front of this house (this area is built on a grid system)
mine is the only house in this neighbourhood that sits exactly 33 degrees off from the N-S-E-W orientation of all the others.
I discovered this last fact with great surprise, after living here for many years, when I measured one day with a compass.
The house was purchased from a man whom I later discovered was a 33rd degree Freemason. In my 33rd year, I undertook a thorough
re-model of the house, which is now 50 years old.
