Civil Liberties

Most of us are aware of how "liberals" are perceived to be weak on issues such as economic growth, national defense, and foreign policy.   (I am putting "liberals" and "conservatives" in quotes because Steven Den Beste has explained how those terms don't mean what they seem.)

Well, I assert that they've also failed to understand issues they've often claimed as their own: Health Care,

Social Security,

Environmental Protection,

Poverty, and

Crime. The reasons they've failed?   Once you read the pages, you'll see it's because of three factors: They don't know how to trade off (and don't believe in trading off) costs and benefits;

They don't believe in tolerating short-term pain for long-term gain;

They don't believe in sacrifice (if it feels good now, do it; otherwise, forget it). And – just in case this isn't enough to make you ashamed of liberal conduct – they have also shown a great deal of hypocrisy regarding sex-discrimination laws and on the weekend furlough issue.
