Convicted on May 7, 1999 both as an individual participant and as a superior on violations of the laws or customs of war. Found not guilty on two counts of grave breaches of the Geneva Conventions. Ordered released as his wait for trial was longer than the 30-month sentence imposed. Upon appeal by the prosecution was rearrested February 9, 2000 when he returned to court in hopes of clearing his name. Is now awaiting further sentencing.
CRIME:
Accused of being commander of the Kaonik prison camp in the Lasla Valley region when Muslim detainees were inhumanely treated.
