TITLE:  On-Call Response and Compensation

PURPOSE:
 
On-call pay is provided to ensure 24 hour a day coverage for designated areas
(See attached positions).
 
POLICY:
 
On-call pay of $15.00 per shift is paid in addition to call-back pay.  When
called back to work on-call employees are paid at two separate rates. 
 
1.   Employee's hourly base rate (see attached list of departments and
     positions, Payment method 1)
 
2.   Base rate plus $3.00 per hour for hours worked Monday, 6:45 a.m. through
     Friday, 10:44 p.m.  
 
     Base rate plus $6.00 per hour for hours worked Friday, 10:45 p.m. through
     Monday, 6:44 a.m. (see attached list of departments and positions,
     Payment method 2)  
 
Travel time will be compensated at the employee's regular hourly rate plus
applicable differentials for a one hour period of time.  Employees will be
paid a minimum of one hour's pay at respective rate if called in to work. 
This minimum is over and above travel time and applies whether or not work is
performed; however, employees must badge in and report to their duty station
to be eligible for compensation.  Total hours paid for travel and call back
cannot exceed the total hours in the shift.  
 
Any "on-call" employee is expected to report for duty within 30 minutes of
call back notification.  Employees who are "on-call" that fail to respond to
call back notification will be have two cumulative absence points as defined
in the Absenteeism/Attendance Policy.
 
An on-call employee who is called on to work must badge in and out to
designate the beginning and end of actual work time.
 
Employees working under the on-call staffing system are eligible for shift
premium pay for work during a call-back if they meet normal shift differential
requirements.
 
Employees who cannot be contacted, or who are unable to report for work when
they are contacted, will not receive on-call pay for that scheduled on-call
period.
