The Grand Knight’s Message
Dear Bros. Knights,
Elections are next week. I apologize for getting the
date wrong in the May newsletter; according to our by-laws, elections are
to be held between May 15th and June 15th. As stated
before, our elections are very important and will set the course for the upcoming year.
Nominations can be submitted up until the third strike of the gavel on Monday, so if you want to run or nominate someone
else it’s not too late. Please send your nomination to James Petrie or
submit it on Monday when there is a call for nominations. For all elective positions, the nominations currently stand as follows:

Our
Lady of Good Counsel
Pray
for Us! |
The Holy Spirit is moving in the Knights and much lies ahead of us - both hard work and fun. We will need every able bodied Knight to be involved as we support a myriad
of causes including prolife activities and those in need - all Knights can support these efforts through prayer. Again I would like to thank those Knights who are no longer physically able to help – we owe you
a great deal of gratitude for your past works, providing us with a Council Hall and paving the way for current and future
Knights – thank you.
Please mark your calendars – we meet the first Monday of each month – starting next
Monday June 1st for elections. I look forward to seeing you –
call if you need a ride.
Vivat Jesus, John

Knights In Action
·
If you know of an employment opportunity,
please contact K of C Council 678. Your brother knight may need assistance locating
gainful employment.
·
Support a business owned by a brother
knight
·
When you leave home, do not forget
your Holy Rosary. It is our armor and sword, with which we fight the enemy as
knight and the church militant.
·
Pray for the unborn child, the voiceless
millions who are being killed every day. Pray for the suffering poor.
·
Pray for our fellow knights in distress
or sickness. |
Birthday Wishes
To all Brother Knights born in June!
Hail Mary Full of Grace!

From State the Insurance Agent
Have you ever heard the expression “lazy days of summer?” While the hot weather may encourage a slower paced life, in many ways summer can be the busiest time of
the year; especially for parents with school-aged children. And being busy, it’s
easy to forget about such things as reviewing your life insurance coverage.
The purpose of this column is to encourage you to meet with me before the end of the summer. Whether or not you have life insurance with the Order, I’ll be happy to meet
with you and make sure your coverage continues to meet your needs and goals. If
you’ve had any life changes since you last bought a policy (new home, new child, new job, etc.), chances are your life
insurance needs to be updated. I’ll work with you to make sure you have
the coverage you need at a price you can afford.
When we meet, you’ll discover that the time we spend together will be time well-spent. Let’s get together soon. Because
summer is not only busy, it’s also coming to an end.
Call me – let’s talk. I’m at 503 387-510 or kyle.casey@kofc.org
In Solidarity with our Priests
Remember, brother knights, that tomorrow May 31st
is Corporate Communion Sunday for members of the Knights of Columbus Council 678. Let
us show solidarity with our Faithful Friar by attending Holy Mass at Immaculate Heart Church in North Williams.
Come Holy Ghost, fill the hearts of the faithful
and enkindle in the fire of thy love!
The Holy Father’s Prayer Intentions for the month of June
Let us pray with the Holy Father, Pope Benedict
VI for the following intentions in the month of June:
Foreign
Debt Relief: That international efforts to help poorer nations bring prompt, and concrete results to relieve the crushing
burden of foreign debt.
The
Church in Areas of Violence: That local Church communities serving in areas turn by violence may be supported through the
love and help offered by Catholics around the world.

Holy Father’s Monthly Intentions, 2009)
