Anxieties should be looked at carefully. Certainly, we all experience anxiety (another word for "fear"). Anxiety is not at all unusual and can sometimes be helpful, alerting us to situations which are potentially dangerous and allowing us to be prepared.

But too much anxiety may be debilitating and harmful. Someone whose anxiety is expressed in phobias, for example, cannot live constructively and happily. Anxiety which is too intense or long-lasting can defeat us if we don't arrange for professional help. It surprises many that anxieties are often quickly dispelled. This most often happens when the motivation of the client combines with the skill of the therapist.
