Your website is great! I am looking for information about John Powell of Mecklenburg, N. C. whose daughter Mary Powell (c. 1764-1860) married Hezekiah Bryant in Mecklenburg, N. C. Hezekiah has a revolutionary war pension file stating that he and Mary Powell were married at the home of her father John Powell in Mecklenburg, N. C. on September 24, 1785 by Reverend Neuseman, a Baptist minister. He says the bonds were posted at the Haynes Meeting House. Kiah Powell, with one male over 16 and one female over 16, is listed as head of household in Mecklenburg in 1790 census. Living nearby are John Powell and several Pyrons, Polks, etc. Here are the 1790 census listings-- the households beginning with William Pyron are in the order in which they appear in the census. 1790 census, Mecklenburg County, NC Kiah Bryan, 1 male over 16, one female (Salisbury District) Living nearby: William Pyron a male over 16, 2 females 2 slaves David Powell 1 male over 16, 2 under 16, 2 females John Pyron, one male over 16, 2 males under 16, 2 females, 2 slaves John Powell 3 males over 16; 2 females Polk Captain Polk, William, Jr. I notice your genealogy lists a Mary Powell as the wife of William Pyron. I thought perhaps this Mary might be the sister of my John Powell, since the families are living side by side. If you have any information about the identity or interrelationships of these Powells, Pyrons, Polks, and Bryants, from the 1790 census, I would appreciate your letting me know. So far, I have not been able to identify the parents of John Powell whose daughter Mary married Hezekiah Bryant. I would really appreciate any information that pertains to John Powell and his ancestors, descendants, or other relations. Rumor has it that she was Indian and walked on the Trail of Tears, but did not register....Again, this is only a story passed down so may not be accurate...If anyone has info, would appreciate...I noticed you have her listed as Unisa (or at least I think that is her...she is the daughter of Garrison, so they should be the same person)...thanks, Susan Forbes ------------------Tue Nov 16 06:07:28 2004 name: Don Hobbs email: don.hobbs@pac.dodea.edu comments: I am looking for information on my father, Harden Thomas Hobbs born in 1908 in Wing (?) Arkansas. His first wife was Ernestine (last name unknown) and his second wife, my mother, was Helen Krall. I believe he moved to Pueblo Colorado, then on to Longview WA where he worked in a sawmill. He then settled in Roseburg OR where I was born in 1949. He spoke of sistersVida (Ikelman) and Azalee; and brother Owen. He had many brothers and sisters, I think 14 total, one of which died as a child. He also had a nephew named Lee from somewhere in southern California; and a sister whose married last name was Ready. My Dad passed away in 1982 but I am curious to know if any of my cousins may still be alive and would care to share some family information with me. ------------------Mon Nov 29 06:20:52 2004 name: albrown email: alvab55wmconnect.com comments: LOOKING FOR INFO ON ISAAC AND JULIA BROWN MARRIED IN SCHLEY CO. From a biography I read of hers (I do not remember the author or date of writing because it is presently out of my hands and with a niece who cannot find it. It will be found.) i read that Elizabeth died in Jamaica and is buried there. I seem to remember that she asked not to be sent back to England. I am going on a cruise which has a stop at two ports in Jamaica on the other side of the island from Kingston where I understand she is buried. We will visit Ocho Rios on Nov.7 and Montego Bay on Nov. 8 and from 12:00 noon on the first day and leaving at 4:00 p.m. on the second day. I believe that I could travel from the one and reach the second passing through Kingston on the way and handily manage a visit to her grave. Has anyone an idea as to how I could manage this and where exactly she is buried. I would very much like to know. My maiden name was Magee and it was an uncle who researched our ancestry. Very sincerely yours, Kathleen M. Villafuerte. ------------------Mon Jun 13 19:11:51 2005 name: Cynde email: cynde@verizonmail.com comments: McGee, Thomas (major)North Carolina McGee, Robert (Robin) Stanley North CArolina McGee, Robert Blair North Carolina McGee, Samuel Lawing North Carolina/Oklahoma I'm seeking documentation for DAR. Married Martha Frances Bradley in Missouri in 1840. If anyone has new information that might help me to connect Elijah to his parents, please contact me!
