1 Notes for Anton
Ferdinandus NEUHAUSER and Sabrina SCHLARB |
Note 1A:
|
Birthplace: Ferdinandus Antonius Neuhauser was born at
Kückelheim, Westfalen, Prussia on 15 Jan 1803. He immigrated to New York City in 1840 with a younger brother, Franz
Anton Neuhauser. After becoming a citizen in 1849, Franz moved to Lomira Township, Dodge, Wisconsin. Franz married Helena Weber and raised a family. He was a farmer and in 1876 he was elected to the State of Wisconsin Government to serve as an Assemblyman for Dodge County's Second Congressional District. Previously, he had served as his town Chairman, Treasurer, and Assessor. Franz died in 1879. Some of this information comes from one of his descendents, Betsylee Neuhauser Browning.
[Family History Library, ancestral file:
Event(s): Birth: 15 JAN 1803 Kückelheim, ,
Westfalen, Preussen. Christening: 16 JAN 1803 St

Wisconsin Historical Society.
|
|
In the 1860, 1870, and 1880 U.S. Census,
Anton's estimated birth year is 1803. However,
the age given on Bremen Bark Louis log
[1840] is 33, estimated birth year
1807.
|
|
Date of death and burial
place for Anton and Sabina, are as
yet unknown. Anton last appears in the U.S.
Census in 1880, listed as "widower", Sabina
having died sometime after 1870 and before 1880
[1.3A].
A family member's notes gave Anton's year of
death as 1882, but this date has not been verified, as yet.
|
|
Anton moved his family from New York City
to Pennsylvania sometime before 1858. I have been unable to locate them
in the 1850 Census. All the children were born in New York, except the youngest child, Mary, who was born in Pennsylvania
in January 1858. They appear in the 1860 Census in Mahoning Township, Montour County, PA. In the 1870 Census he is living in Mahanoy
Township, Schuylkill County, PA. In 1880 Census he
is in Shenandoah, Schuylkill County, PA.
