HUNTSMAN, William
William HUNTSMAN was born in Ohio, May 23, 1822 and
departed this life, August 25, 1902, at the age of 80
years.Fifty five years ago, while still a young man, he
came to this state, settling in Council Bluffs, there he
was united in marriage to Miss Almira WIRICK, January 20,
1850. After residing at that place for two years he
removed to Emerson, Iowa, when it was still a vast
prairie inhabited by a few whites and a great many
Indians. He lived to see barren tract transformed into
beautiful farms and a fine town.
To this union was born nine children, five sons and four
daughters, all of whom survive him, except one, Ambrosia,
who died in infancy. The remaining children are Alfred of
Henderson, Iowa; Peter of Griswold, Iowa; George of
Inwood, Iowa; Mrs. A. H. SHERMAN, Mrs. Don SMITH,
William, Levi and Dora of Emerson.
June 11th, 1880 he was called to mourn the loss of a
devoted wife and mother. Twelve years ago he was united
with the Re-organized Church of Jesus Christ and died
trusting in the faith he believed.
The funeral services were held in the Baptist Church,
Wednesday, August 27th at 2 PM conducted by Rev. Hougas
of Henderson.
