How our minds deceive us! To look forward, or back, for that matter, is gloss on a somber sea, where the tossing waves, gently, it seems, propel us toward our ends. To embrace this distance of time, is an escape. Come, be a good fellow, do admit it:   release from what we presently endure. It is a slippery slope which allows us to glide, pleasantly, on our way. We cannot see, due to inept vision, that the merry-go-round does not turn, but stands mute and still, going neither forward or backward, and that the riders are strangely out of place, puppets stiffly positioned, not on a joy ride, but fixed to a tragic arc of inevitability.
