Notre-Dame of Paris
Only the spirit remains; the body is relentlessly, see,
Cut apart, piece by piece; little things happen, obscure;
A taking away: what is left, shattered, lost; the vision
Incomplete; dimly visible; that looming entrance in
The dark mystery; then, the final eclipse, already stored
And waiting: nothingness, the void; and there, the
Question doesn't persist; the realm, ineffective, isn't felt.
The drift is unquestioned; the foil rendered pointless;
And those raging demons, as the walls approached, fade,
Demons invented, and those inflicted by capricious mind,
Where life's futility struts; it is the faultless escape, see?
