Healing Presence is the ability to be entirely present and hold a place of compassion and equanimity for others, without intent,
or investment in and attachment to outcome.
Healing Presence creates a nurturing space for each individual to process and heal in the way and at the speed that is
appropriate for them. It creates an experience where both parties are fed by the interaction, preventing feelings of burn-out
and toxicity.
The goal of learning to be a Healing Presence is to:
- develop an understanding of the dispassionate nature of compassion,
- develop skills to be able to embody these skills, and
- apply them appropriately to a variety of environments.
Healing Presence also directly confronts the furtive, subtle dangers of the ego and of investment in the outcome of our
interactions with others.
Cultivating the Healing Presence is unique in its practical approach and its way of using our own body responses as a
guideline to know when we are in a state of Healing Presence, when we are not, and how to get there.
The use of body sense is employed as a reliable and readily available gauge for perceiving the state of well-being, dispassion
and calm characteristic of Healing Presence. In addition, these tools can be used for regulating oneself in relationship to
situations and individuals for creating a healing presence.
