Cats and other critters
Three former strays live with us. The neighbor's dog found Kismet under a bush. An ex-boss found Rosa after she had been hit by a car. Oliver had been hanging around a kindergarten classroom.
Wonderful cats and dogs are available at a number of no-kill shelters. Rosa spent several weeks in foster care with the women from Mercer-Eastside Orphans and Waifs (MEOW).
My dad had been feeding some strays in Nebraska. When he moved to senior housing, we found that a group of volunteers have formed a no-kill shelter in his town, Hi Plains Animal Rescue. We have helped them with donations, but I know they could always use more.
