The next several pictures show the steps I took in building the plate that the new brake booster will mount to. I used the cardboard template that I made previously as a guide.

Instead of having sharp corners, I decided to add a radius. My hope is that it will add somewhat of a stamped steel look that will match with the other characteristics already stamped into the firewall.

Since I had to cut through another piece of sheetmetal that ran the width of the car, I had to add this place to add strength and close off the cavity from the element. You can barely see the top of this piece if you look through the top of the cowl. I welded it to the plate I made. When completed, it will be fully welded into the structure underneath the cowl.

After tack welding the plate into place, I installed the brake booster/master cylinder to see how everything looks. I should have enough clearance between the booster and the engine. I have a few final touches to complete, then the plate will be permanently welded into place.
