On the first bitter cold day the week before Christmas, 04, Kathy thought she heard kittens mewing.  She saw two little kittens sitting on the driveway.  They had apparently been abandoned by some unfeeling soul.

Kathy called me as I was working out of town.  We both knew they had to be brought in or would freeze to death.  Unfortunately, they would not let Kathy touch them.  Initially they would not go in the garage and even climbed up in the engine bay of her car.  As it got later in the day and colder, they eventually ran into the garage and joined the gang.

Splash adopted them immediately.  He became a surrogate mother.  For their first two weeks, where Splash went, the kittens went.  Everyone was fine with their coming except Brother.  He was really upset the first week, but has mellowed and is now rubbing noses with them.

Blaze is the gray and white one and is a little girl.  Domino is a little boy.  Blaze is much tamer and almost ready for cuddling.

UPDATED JUNE, 2005

Blaze is growing into a lovely little lady.  Somewhat shy and reserved, she will tolerate petting, but only at her invitation.  She has been a terrific big sister for Grayson.  Blaze is still very close to Splash.  She loves to play with feather toys and "Da Bird" will drive her insane.  With her nose blaze and her slanted almond eyes, I think she has one of the most beautiful feline faces.

UPDATED OCTOBER, 2006

Blaze is one of my enigma cats (the other is her brother , Domino).  She follows me around and loves to play, but will not let Kathy or me pet her.  She also totally panics if she is in the house and finds the door to the garage closed.  I wonder what ghosts from the past still haunt her?  Otherwise she is fine and seems very healthy and happy.

UPDATED JULY 2010

Miss Blaze remains an enigma.  She loves to play and will come to ask for food, but after all this time, I still cannot pet either her or her brother, Domino.  I doubt I ever will.  That is OK.  I love her enough for the both of us.
