The new MasterCook (Version 5 and up) has an Import Assistant. Please
see Pam's tutorial:
Using
the Import Assistant in MasterCook 5.x and 6.x
For versions II thru 4, see
MasterCook Import
Guide
If you cannot open or index a cookbook (with the mc2 extension), send a
zipped copy to <mastercook_help@yahoo.com>
and include a description of the problem and/or error message. Someone
will get back to you as soon as they can. Photos cannot be rescued from a
corrupt cookbook.
Below are additional utilities you might find useful.
Recipe Import Tools for MasterCook
Since MasterCook was introduced, people looked for ways to create clean
import text files. Those who had programming skills developed
computer applications that make editing easier for them and they offer the
programs free for personal use.
There are two import tasks that these utilities handle.
- Edit and clean files such as a recipe digest, and fix known problems
that could corrupt a cookbook.
- Provide a way to format generic (free-format) recipes. Make it easy
to label the different fields; like author, source, copyright, measures,
units, ingredients, preparations, directions, notes, serving
suggestions, notes, descriptions, number of servings, yield, categories,
etc.
The programs produce an export file that MasterCook will
import. Note that some of the programs are for older versions of
MasterCook, but they still run on newer machines (I tested with XP-home).
