Resurgent to the Task |

Resurgent to the Task
Who is it that calls us
from the distance
of years
to return
to the place
of Surrender?
Who is it that offers
a vision - of rest
amidst toil,
- of release
from regret?
Long ago,
I passed
places
that have grown
in the mind
of time -
that have suffered change,
As I
have changed -
and grown
more
than older,
more than simply gray
under trees
and sky.
The world
has changed
around me,
My dreams
change,
Time
Himself
has changed -
become leaner -
like a river
far
from rain.
The pages
of his book
have yellowed
and gone stiff,
the corners
are smudged
from fingers
of many readings,
but the Text
is clear:
The power to change
- like the wind!
lies unlimbered
in the hills
of again.
Deep
in a forest
of pine,
I follow
Yesterday's
stream
over hills
and beyond
Time,
and recall
that forgiving
resolve -
Across
the distance
of years,
I Return,
wise
to the wiles,
and patient
of all things -
A tool
in the hand
of success.
