The Devil's Own

Harrison Ford, desperate for a hit since his appearance in 1994's Clear and Present Danger and fresh off the critically-lambasted Sabrina in 1995, stars in this thinly-veiled rehash of the most popular elements Patriot Games. Unfortunately, it's not the action film that audiences want it to be and Sony tried to sell it as, and only the most devoted moviegoers can listen to Brad Pitt cop an Irish accent for two hours and not balk at the thought. Ford, probably one of everyone's favorite actors, does his best to compensate but finds out that he can't be low-key if his costar is even more sedated, and thus the Donnie Brasco-style mix of two-faced double-crossing doesn't have the suspense and intrigue that it ought to. Way too many talking heads in this one.
