DreamWorks' THE RING TWO
DreamWorks
  The Ring Two
Review by Andy Zientek. March 18, 2005.
The Ring Two uncovers things in the Ring mythos that are mildly interesting at best, and painfully contrived at worst, taking us places that are either boring, unnecessary, or arbitrary. And sometimes all of the above.

Miramax Films' HOSTAGE
Miramax
  Hostage
Review by Andy Zientek. March 11, 2005.
Bruce Willis is the star of the generically titled actioner Hostage. Luckily for him, though, the film is not as monotonous and formulaic as the poster or title might suggest.

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's BE COOL
MGM
  Be Cool
Review by Craig Roush. March 4, 2005.
I am a sucker for all-star casts, so I was inclined to give Be Cool a fair shake. The movie did not betray my trust, amiably dealing out a story that, if not original, is at least entertaining and competently acted.

Warner Independent Pictures' THE JACKET
Warner Independent
  The Jacket
Review by Andy Zientek. March 4, 2005.
The only way to describe The Jacket is to call it a psychological romantic thriller about time travel. That may sound intriguing, and at times it is, but in the end this film is too complicated for its own good.

Miramax Films' CURSED
Miramax
  Cursed
Review by Craig Roush. Feb. 25, 2005.
Five years passed between the release of Cursed and Scream 3, director Wes Craven’s last film. It’s hard to see this movie as anything other than Craven’s half-hearted attempt to keep himself relevant in the sphere of pop culture.

Sony Pictures' MAN OF THE HOUSE
Sony
  Man of the House
Review by Andy Zientek. Feb. 25, 2005.
It’s true that we’ve never seen a movie with Tommy Lee Jones living with a squad of college cheerleaders. But that’s about as far as the originality goes in Man of the House.

20th Century Fox Films' BECAUSE OF WINN-DIXIE
20th Century Fox
  Because of Winn-Dixie
Review by Andy Zientek. Feb. 18, 2005.
Director Wayne Wang is more or less successful in adding something new to the kid-friendly formula of children and dogs on adventures, giving more screen time to the human elements of the story rather than exploiting the antics of the titular dog and filling the scenes with childish humor.

Warner Brothers' CONSTANTINE
Warner Brothers
  Constantine
Review by Craig Roush. Feb. 18, 2005.
Even though the story is based on a series of comic books that predated The Matrix, it feels like a repackaged version of the same story, only less costly and more literal, like buying generic painkillers or off-brand cigarettes instead of Tylenol or Marlboros.

Sony Pictures' HITCH
Sony
  Hitch
Review by Andy Zientek. Feb. 11, 2005.
By all rights, this film ought to be on the list of romantic comedies that everyone forgets about in two years. But Hitch has real chemistry, real humor, and real romance.

Walt Disney Pictures' POOH'S HEFFALUMP MOVIE
Disney
  Pooh's Heffalump Movie
Review by Andy Zientek. Feb. 11, 2005.
Clever and heartfelt — though not to the delightful extent of the Pooh movies from the 1970's and 80's.
