Counter-Productive Activities

Being on the Dao means understanding the world well enough to avoid counter-productive activities. Therefore we will consider several sources of counter-productivity and dysfunction, including mishandling of sex and mishandling of drugs.
Sources of dysfunction:

Sex has, it seems, always been a source of problems, one way or another, in all cultures and all times. A root cure is always better than symptomatic relief, so we would benefit from understanding how sexuality is constituted. Matters are complex, so we will consider the question under several topics:

Drugs have been both used and abused, probably for hundreds of thousands of years, to affect the brain and its perceptions. For Kinkaju's ideas on this subject, see essay.

Coercion, directly and also via the law, has been a frequent human response to problems. More on this subject later. For now, here are some thoughts by others for you to examine. Remember that "information" may be "disinformation" and that having a collection of information is not the same as having knowledge. Your task is to examine everything to see how well it is grounded. That's what you are here to learn, actually. See links to several challenging articles pertaining to attempts to make people be good, or at least to stop doing bad things.
