The enemy is a defeated foe, to be sure. However, this statement is often confused with the ultimate triumph on the final day. He is still prowling about. He is still simulating a roaring lion. He is still seeking out those who are naive enough to be beguiled by his wily voice. In other words, he is still to be confronted; he is still to be fought. The introductory article, The Mourning in Zion, is meant to bring awareness to the craft of his subtle deceit. It may be more pervasive than many have realized. Philip Schaff seems to be but one of many unsung heroes of our Christian heritage. His diligence has produced a great body of work that is one of the treasures of the vast resources our gracious Father has made available to us. From Philip we get a glorious glimpse into our marvelous past. He is the featured saint in Written in the Sand - A Quote. Deep within the ancient Scriptures are buried the details of the cosmic battle of the ages. Often merely the surface is gleaned and a few nuggets of truth are harvested for our own personal well-being. And this is OK; and required. But in nearly every verse the glory of the Righteous One is revealed and His triumph of the ages is expressed in various ways. Such is the case with the verse explored in Meditations: Reflections from the Holy Scriptures. |

I apologize for the tardiness of this update. The target for each update is no sooner that two weeks and no later than one month. I missed this target. Since the elections have come to an end the spiritual atmosphere is much better, much more optimistic, than it has ever been after what would seem to many to be a reversal of fortune. Nevertheless, with the aim to encourage the saints and to refocus or further focus their eyes of faith, the introductory article for this edition is entitled The Government Rests Upon His Shoulders. Glorious is our King, and ever increasing and never ending is His Kingdom! Seeming defeats, in His hands, are our certain victories. Presenting Catherine of Siena as the featured saint in Written in the Sand - A Quote is most dangerous. So it is probably best that nothing further be said about it. The editor of these Chronicles at one time had been an auto mechanic (or at least he bore the label). So in this issue of Meditations: Reflections from the Holy Scriptures the hood is lifted on the Christian life and the driving force of that life is examined. |

Augustine. There are few saints who have had more of an impact upon the Church than this man. Augustine set the theological foundation for the Church during her post-Constantine era. He fought one of her premier battles against the heretical doctrines of Pelagius, a battle really that rages to this day. And the reformers looked to him for guidance in their work we call the Reformation. Augustine is our featured saint in this issue of Written in the Sand - A Quote. I want to refrain, as much as possible, from using quotes from the same saint, since there are so many from which to choose. However, Augustine may be the first repeat. "The blessing of the Lord makes rich." What is "the blessing"? What does God mean by "makes rich"? This is the verse from Proverbs and the questions that are hashed out in Meditations: Reflections from the Holy Scriptures. |

I finally bit the bullet and yielded to my Father's incentive by finishing the About the Banner series with the description of Jesus Christ His Son. The four gospels were walked through, each revealing a different attribute of our Redeemer. The article, The Living Word: A Paraphrase has been edited. The apologetic nature of it has been removed. It now stands as a balance to the article Changing the Word and attempts to rephrase that article in a different way. |

Some it seems are on the lookout for the next grandiose idea, or they are eager to engage in some project that in their minds will result in some final consummation. This is all well and good and I think for the most part quite natural. But it often can be a hindrance or even a stumbling block to the true purpose of God, which of course is found in the revelation of His Son. Thence, the introductory comments for this issue have as their title The Trappings of the Christian Life. Madame Guyon wrote in her autobiography, "The Lord made it known...that He designed me to be a mother..." (From Jeanne Guyon, An Autobiography, copyright © 1997 by Whitaker House, 30 Hunt Valley Circle, New Kensington, PA 15068, page 144.) Little did she know perhaps at the time (though probably she knows now) that many of her children, I being one, would come to her via her writings. So it should not be surprising that a quote from Madame Guyon, who I consider my spiritual mother, should show up in Written in the Sand - A Quote. "The sum of thy word" is extrapolated, in Meditations: Reflections from the Holy Scriptures, along three veins: the totality of our Lord Jesus Christ, the total revelation of the Bible, and the sum of the expression of Christ in redeemed humanity. |

In light of the current world situation and conforming to the manner in which I perceive the world, that is as being a reflection of the spiritual world (the natural preceding the spiritual), whither this perspective be deemed a curse or a blessing, I attempted to use the current conflict in a suggestive and subtle way to make known the real war that is raging for mankind. Thus the introductory comments for this edition are entitled The War is Raging. I am afraid that many in the body of Christ are guilty of throwing many babies out because of their soiled bath waters. Charles Hodge truly held with great tenacity to what he perceived as the irrevocable truth of extreme predestinationism. Though much of the Church has softened on this point, yet their is so much to be cherished in the theology of the older, Reformed Church but has been overlooked and neglected because of the contention. Here is a minor, ecumenical attempt at reconciliation: from the teaching of Charles Hodge comes Written in the Sand - A Quote. Paul received the gospel in the Arabian desert. God the Father revealed His Son to him and in him. And really, is the gospel ever received in any other way? Though there is much regarding the Christian life to be taught and apprehended by the human mind, yet nothing can substitute for the revelation of Jesus Christ which God Almighty impresses in the human heart. Meditations: Reflections from the Holy Scriptures presents this thought in my typical, crass way. |

The changes in this issue of the Kingdom Chronicles include: 1) Miscellaneous Section added. This is referred to as the Kingdom Chronicles closet. Stuff with nowhere else to go will end up in here. Also this section will contain the Archives for "Written in the Sand, A Quote" and for "Meditations: Reflections from the Holy Scriptures". 2) I finally got around to updating "Written in the Sand". I am sure you were getting tired of Albert. I am determined to update this with every issue especially since I now have the design of the site pretty well lined out. 3) A new series on page one: "Meditations: Reflections from the Holy Scriptures." This too is to have a very rapid turn around. 4) I broke off the old Update History and put it on its own page. 5) I am kind of settled now with the basic layout, having an introductory comment at the top of page one, followed by the two series. When their are new articles I will have a link on page one as well. The cartoon and the Word Probe series were suppose to be reoccurring. But I do not possess the creativity to produce them on a regular basis. So, they both got moved to the closet. In the future, unless a cartoon comes to mind, or unless Professor Udite has time in his busy schedule to make another contribution to Word Probe, these items will appear inconsistently. |

The Kingdom Chronicles has been redesigned. It has a new look and a new means of navigation with the button bar. Currently there are two sections with more to follow. The two sections are:
● Home. This is the section you land at when you come to the Kingdom Chronicles. This section is subdivided into 6 pages. They are: 1) What's New. This page is the default home page, the Index page for all the others. 2) Introduction: The Purpose and Meaning of this Website. This page displays links for the articles which answer to the title, banner and ultimately what is believed the divine purpose for all these cyber endeavors. 3) Statement of Faith. This was fun to assemble, but a little difficult. It is hard to be both complete and concise. This is the result, also containing the Apostolic and Nicene Creeds. 4) Credits. A listing of who is responsible and/or blamable for the contents of this site. Also it gives credit to the default Bible version for this site, the RSV. 5) Update History. You are reading it. 6) Email Notification or Cancellation. An opportunity for all to be notified for all updates to this site. ● The Living Word. This section will deal with Jesus Christ, His relationship to the Scriptures, and the revelation of Him in them. At present there is only the Introduction page for this section, but it will likely be subdivided into different pages in the future.
I hope you enjoy the new layout. |

After a long hiatus, the Lord has steered me back to the web site. And the first order of business was to clear up some things. Changing The "WORD" is a good article. It is certainly a clear and distinct word from the Lord. However, there is a very important difference between hearing what God has said verses presenting it as God intends. And it was on this latter part that I did not do so well. So to clear this up I have presented a new article entitled The Living Word: An Apology. It apologies for my failures in the original article and attempts, in a kinder and gentler way, to restate the objective. Also, I have gone through the Changing The "WORD" article to tone it down a bit, removing the harshness, negativism and accusatory implications. Now, between these two articles, you should get a pretty clear picture of what God has put on my heart and what I believe is His great desire for us: the revelation of Jesus Christ in the Scriptures. Also, look for a revamp to this entire web site coming soon. |
