Songoku the Monkey and Jade Rabbit cavort in the giant Moon's glow. Tsukioka Yoshitoshi's "100 Aspects of the Moon" is considered his masterpiece; 100 views of mythology, history, legends and Japanese culture, all linked by the mysterious Moon or it's reflection. This artist was the last in a long line of ukiyo-e greats and he knew the traditions of Japan were changing from Western influences. His work, often bloody , violent or severe is always facinating, often mystical and profound.
