Elk Mountain

Elk Mountain is only ten minutes away, and it's the largest mountain in eastern Pennsylvania. In recent years they have added several new trails, and the result is really a fantastic place to ski. It's a mountain you could spend a good solid day at and never get bored.

Rails-to-Trails is a network of defunct railroad tracks that have been preserved as a network of trails for hiking, biking, snowmobiles, cross-country skiing - really just about anything that you could use a trail for. The trails are maintained by the Rails-to-Trails conservancy, but this site is a link from the Pennsylvania Dep't of Conservation and Natural Resources.
Use the NEP SnoTrails link for snowmobiling information. The other link is more geared towards summerime activities. Please note - ATVs are NOT allowed on the trail network in the summer or winter. |
