About the Artist
I am a self-taught artist who, in the year 2000 at the age of 60, started my incredibly wonderful journey with
charcoal portrait drawing. I offer glimpses of the Caribbean personality through my "Images in Charcoal."
While creating my "Images," it was as though some of them were talking to me, as though they had a
life or personality of their own. Thus, in 2002, I embarked on the creation of fictionalized stories which
brought together the Caribbean personality and the Caribbean experience. Several of my "Images" are illustrated
in the seven short stories I have self-published in booklet form.
In the year 2008, four years after retiring from the University of the Virgin Islands as Associate
Professor of Office Administration, and again by self-teaching and experimentation, I created my first acrylic piece entitled
"...Well Pleased."
My artwork is further embodied in art-related, computer-generated products such as art cards, magnets,
keychains, and letter openers.
I also create fine-quality souvenirs using seashells and seaglass collected from the shores
of the Virgin Islands.
