Couples married for at least 3 years may adopt. They must be at least 27. Those 27 to 45 may adopt infants. Single men and women may adopt children over 4, but they can't be more than 47 years older than the child. The maximim age is 55. Parents must be 16 years older than the child they will adopt. Parents must pass a physical and mental exam.

Process

One parent must travel for 6 - 10 days.

Other Information / Philippines

The capital of the Philippines is Manila. The primary languages are Tagalog, Spanish, and English.

Major Reasons Filipino Children are being put up for Adoption

Most of the time, Filipino children are given up due to poverty.

Advantages

Most people in the Philippines speak English, so the adoption process is easier and no translation is necessary.

Disadvantages

Travel is a disadvantage, since one must travel halfway around the world and it is very costly.

The following is from the US State Dep's page on adoption from the Philippines.
