Sri Lankan Children
Children under 3 months aren't allowed to be adopted by foreigners. 16 is the oldest age of a child one can adopt.
Note: The requirements and process below is combined with US laws, but it should be a basis
for citizens of other countries.
Requirements
Singles may not adopt, only married couples may. Parents must be no less than 21 years older than the child. Parents must
be at least 25. For the US, at least one parent must be a US citizen and both parents must agree to the adoption.
Process
The laws for adopting from Sri Lanka may change. The process and length is uncertain because new laws can be implemented at
any time. All available children are through the Sri Lankan govt. What about Asia Adopt???? Both parents must be present during
the trial. Parents should stay 4 to 5 weeks.
