Indian Children
Most children available for adoption are girls between eight months and two years old. The majority of the children live in
orphanages with limited or no information about their parents. Most children have orphanage delays and minor medical issues,
but they all thrive after being placed with a permanent family. Healthy children are available.
Note: The requirements and process below is combined with US laws, but it should be a basis
for citizens of other countries.
Requirements
Single women may adopt as well. Couples must be married for at least two years. Parents must be at least 25. At the most,
there must be a 42 year difference between the child and parent (the younger parent with couples). Orphanages have additional
parental requirements.
Process
After the dossier arrives in India, it takes 1 - 3 months to receive information about a child, but a few children can be
placed immediately. After reviewing the child's information, you can decide to adopt the child. The child can be escorted,
brought by one parent home, or by both, in a trip which takes 5 -10 days.

Other Information / India
The one-on-one attention children receive in the orphanage is among the best in the world. Most orphanages provide the children
with very nutritious food, regular vaccinations and physical exams, and weekly visits with a doctor. The orphanage caretaker
cares for the child throughout the time he/she is in the orphanage.
The capital is New Delhi, and Bombay, Calcutta,
Bangalore, and Lucknow are some major cities.
