Azeri Children
Most children are infants, ( 9 months when you receive them), but older children and children with special needs are available
as well. One can specify a type of special needs child they are willing to take care of (such as a blind or deaf child or
one with mental or orthopedic disabilities). Most children have dark eyes and hair.
Note: The requirements and process below is combined with US laws, but it should be a basis
for citizens of other countries.
Requirements
The maximum age of the parent is 50. Single females may adopt. Women over 42 cannot adopt an infant. It is recommended that
parents don't have a criminal record or have had an arrest to make the process go faster. The Azeri government wants a detailed
description of your home, family, and yourself included in your home study.
Process
Two trips to Azerbaijan are required. Both parents need to travel on the first trip of 3 days, but only one parent needs to
travel on the second trip of 7 days. The government allows children to be photolisted, so one can browse a photolisting for
a child. Photos, sometimes videotapes, and medical history is available before you decide to adopt a certain child. The entire
process will take about a year.
