Armenian Children
Most children live in orphanages. They are generally infants and toddlers, while older children and children with special
needs are also available. Siblings groups are available. There are both boys and girls. Most children have dark hair and eyes.
Note: The requirements and process below is combined with US laws, but it should be a basis
for citizens of other countries.
Requirements
Parents must be at least 25 and it is best that one parent be of Armenian descent; those couples have
priority over all other couples. The Armenian govt. wants the child to know their Armenian heritage, so if you live
in an Armenian community or have close Armenian friends, you can adopt, but you will be judged by the govt. strictly. Parents
not of Armenian descent will be interviewed by the Armenian embassy, but parents must have a very strong reason for adopting
from Armenia if they aren't of Armenian heritage. Couples must be married, practicing Christians. Parents
may have other children in the home. Both parents must travel for 4 weeks. The adoption is signed by the Armenian president.
No annual reports are required.
Process
Parents can specify age, gender and health before adoption.
