In FY 2003, Romania was the 12th most popular adoptive country in the US. In FY, the 15th most popular country in the US for adoptions was Romania. Canada's 18th most popular adoptive country in 2002 was Romania.

In 2002 in the US, 168 Romanian children were adopted. 15 were adopted in Canada in 2002.

The Romanian government has passed laws making it difficult for foreigners to adopt Romanian children. For more information go to link 1.
