In FY 2003, Bulgaria was the 13th most popular adoptive country in the uS. In FY 2002, Bulgaria was the 10th most popular adoptive country in the US.

In 2002, 260 Bulgarian children were adopted into the US.

Bulgarian Children

Parents must be at least 25 years old. At least one parent needs to be 15 years older than the child. Caucasian and Gypsy children are available. Most children are between 2 and 12. Most of them are in orphanages.


Note: The requirements and process below is combined with US laws, but it should be a basis for citizens of other countries.


Requirements

After adoption, annual reports with photos are required. Married couples and single women may adopt.

Two trips to Bulgaria are necessary.
