Other Information / Haiti
Unemployment is 70 - 80%. Compare that to America's 6%. Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Haitians speak
broken French; otherwise known as Creole. The capital is Port-au-Prince. It is located on the island of Hispaniola along with
the Dominican Republic. It is in the Caribbean Sea and is apart of the West Indies. Most live in the capital where there are
terrible living conditions. Most Haitians live in one-room houses, with no sewage, electricity, or tap water. The slums they
live in are often overcrowded, and food is hard to get. There is a large amount of orphanages, and one can help the humanitarian
effort by sponsoring a child in an orphanage.
Major Reasons Haitian Children are being put up for Adoption
The children are put up for adoption due to poverty or they were abandoned and an orphanage is caring for them.
Advantages
Haiti is a relatively cheaper adoption country. You don't need to worry about traveling and traveling expenses, since escorts
are available.
