Of all the places to gold mine in the world, Alaska is the most beautiful. Not only is it the richest state for natural resources, it is also the largest state in the Union. It is more than twice the size of Texas and a great deal of which has never been stepped foot on by humans. Either because it is inaccessible or constant poor weather conditions. All of this makes it pristine for mining gold, silver, copper, etc.,etc. BUT, it is gold that calls men, (ok...and women), to places only God knows about, to search for gold. While most of the time, we deal strictly with Alaska and will be related to gold mining in "The Great Land", it will not be completely limited to Alaska. |

I am looking for Alaskan stories. Not just any stories. I am NOT looking for stories from people who never got further than Eagle River. I want stories from folks who go to the Bush. Gold mining stories; bear stories; fishing around bears; gold mining, snow storms, big gold strikes, unlikely strikes, even Alaska Pipeline stories...(you get the idea.) And then I will post your stories to this site. Oh sure, I could use stories from the Alaska Bear Tales books, or some that I have read on other sites. I want something new....Truthful. I will give credit to all writers, so if you have a picture(s), send them with the stories. Please be as specific as possible. So that we can get this going...(It has been two years and not ONE story)...I will list one of my own. Now I guararntee that this is true to a fault. Nothing was exagerated or taken out of context. THis ACTUALLY took place. I was the subject of this Bear Tale on the Deshka. |
