I'm a party and I won't show if I don't want to! That's Jiwan's motto. When Jiwan came into our house she wasn't very sure she belonged here. Eventually she warmed up to me and finally to Arnett. It wasn't until she was 6 years old that she knew what she really wanted to do. It was a fateful day in the rice paddies north of Sacramento, CA, 36 degrees at noon and we were on the line hunting a rascally rabbit. It finally popped up and off she went. Back and forth, back and forth, and up and over the back of the ditch down into the weeds. The other 2 hounds came back within a minute or two but Jiwan was still missing in the ditch. We waited and waited and waited some more, finally we see her coming up the side of the ditch and slowly walking back to us with her head held very high with her face looking down to the ground. The first thought was "Oh my god she's hurt!", but on looking again we saw that she had the rabbit in her mouth and was bringing it to me. When she finally reached me, the rabbit was gently laid at my feet and she pressed her head into my knees. It was then she knew she is truely a saluki and what she is here for, chasing things.
