The 4:30 Movie
For several years - mostly in
the 70's - WABC-TV in New York (Channel 7) ran their "4:30 Movie"
every weekday. (yep, at
4:30) Remember "Monster Week”, "Planet
of the Apes week" or "Vincent Price week"?
If you're from the Chicago area, you might
better remember this show as "The 3:30 Movie",
which was a nearly identical show, except for the title.
(Thanks to TV News Themes for the screen cap above)
Here's the 4:30 Movie sound
clip… (Thanks to TV News Themes for finding this too)
Here's an mp3 version of the

And here's the video clip (!)... (Thanks to Gareth P. and TVARK)
(Thanks also to Mitch M., Ethan L., and
Frank D. for finding this)
(And to Freddie G. for the edit)

Misc Trivia
The announcer on the 4:30 Movie was Scott Vincent
The man who wrote the copy for The 4:30 Movie's openings, bumpers, and promos was John Kal (thanks Scott V.)
The song used as the theme song to The 4:30 Movie was most likely
written strictly as a production piece in the 1960's by a company
who specialized in such compositions for the industry and the
piece was picked up by ABC. Email me if
anyone has any additional info on this song…
And here
are some questions… anyone know the answers?
Email me if you do.
NYC had The 4:30 Movie and Chicago had The 3:30 Movie,
which were nearly identical shows.
Was there a comparable show on the west coast during this time, and if so, which local station broadcast it and what was it called?
Like the silhouetted image of the cameraman which can
be seen in the 4:30 Movie's opening, wasn't there also a similar
image of a director holding an old-time bullhorn/megaphone
that could be seen at one point or another?
(Thanks to Mark G for jogging my memory on this one)
Was that image ever
part of the opening? Was it part of a
still image associated with show?
Also check out another great 4:30 Movie site at George R's
DVD Drive-In:

And don't miss the TVARK site, which has a great collection
of old U.S. and U.K. TV clips:

If you have any info at all, any comments, any questions, any anything...
Thanks...
