The USS Tuscaloosa (CA-37) and USS Wichita (CA-45) were heavy cruisers built in
the 1930's. A look at their history provides insight into
naval history occurring before World War II, and insight into the nature of
naval action during the war. Both ships saw action in both
European and Pacific theaters, including some of the most important major
battles. Their service is
emblematic of the countless sacrifices made in World War II. This site is
dedicated to all who served aboard the Tuscaloosa and Wichita.
I have tried to provide a mix of both broad and specific information. There is a glossary to help those unfamiliar with many nautical terms. I hope you find this site interesting and that it might serve as a catalyst for or an aid in learning more about World War II. To find out quickly what is on this site, you might want to visit the Site Guide. |
